Hold your horses! and swing by Side Iron on your trip through Susanville. The food:Ordered a half rack of ribs and a side of a mac and cheese and an RC Cola! Great full meal for 1, especially before or after a hike. The Ribs were crispy on the outside and with super soft meat on the inside that'll have you chomping at the bone with amazing flavor. The Mac and Cheese was homemade with great artisan style and a pinch of salt. They have some goofy old school drink choices which all pair great with the food! Dr. Pepper with real sugar, rootbeers, and IPAs.The staff was super friendly and accommodating, a great family owned spot. The building alone still looks and feels like the old saloon it once was, which is reason enough to visit! Only negative I could find, It was a little dusty and unkempt, but that may be part of the astheic. This is a must visit!

Genuine smoke barbecue, brisket soft full of flavour with crispy crust. Fall off bone ribs. No extra sauce needed. Large portions. Huge sides. No mayonnaise slaw was refreshing. Bacon corn was sweet and salty loaded with crumbled bacon. Walk into restaurant and feel like your in a saloon circa mid1800s. Indeed building opened in 1862. Recommend highly. Bring your appetite.

Stopped here for lunch before heading back to Redding. Had the smoked sausage and bacon baked beans. Let me tell you this, I now wish I lived here so I could come back more often. My compliments to the chef!

This place is amazing. Should be a 6 star rating. Amazing food and a great atmosphere. I was passing through Susanville and stopped for a quick bite and this ranks as one of my best decisions. Brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese. Best Mac and cheese I have ever had! If you are in Susanville or passing through, eating here is a must.

Definitely worth the visit. All the food there is amazing. The ribeye dinner is over the top! Cooked to perfection with all the flavors. Mac n cheese is delicious. Definitely my favorite spot in Susanville!

Stopped here on our travels based on the reviews and it was totally worth it. It was a little off the beaten track, but we wanted some ribs and needed to get going when we walked in the place was empty and it kind of scared us but for the most part, we just hate it in an off time. The place is huge as you can see from the video and it’s got hockey sack pool and some other games. We ordered a full rack of ribs and their spicy corn mix, which I don’t have a picture because we ate it so fast. The ordering process was smooth and easy and the food taste great. The ribs were just the right consistency, being not overcooked and not undercooked. The spicy corn with the jalapeños was off the hook.If you’re traveling through Susanville, highly recommend stopping here and eating inside or getting some food to go. You will not be disappointed.

4/14/23: Excellent ribs. Maybe the best I've ever had and I've had ribs all over the country including in Memphis and Kansas City. I asked the friendly owners and they explained their elaborate cooking process and it pays off. The brisket sandwich is very good too. Also the restaurant is in a very cool historical building and they have a pool table and corn hole which you can play while you wait for the food. Definitely worth a visit. If I lived in this town I'd be here all the time!

Neat local restaurant in town with some history. Many land owners have signed their Brand on the wall above the bar, which is a tradition that goes back a while. Plenty of seating whether at the bar in front or tables towards the back where the pool table is. Great brisket.
